South Worcester Industrial Park

The South Worcester Industrial Park project involves the acquisition, environmental remediation and redevelopment of approximately eleven acres containing mostly blighted, abandoned and underutilized former industrial properties. The goal is to create new pad-ready industrial development sites for sale to private businesses interested in developing new industrial facilities that will generate new tax revenues and create new job opportunities for the City of Worcester and its residents.
The City has engaged the services of the Norfolk RAM Group to conduct an engineering and environmental analysis of the site. Final analysis report is anticipated to be completed in October 2003.
Phase I infrastructure improvements, involving the relocation and reconstruction of Southgate Street between Southbridge Street and Southgate Place was completed in September 2003. Preliminary property acquisition discussions and planning for the second phase of infrastructure improvements will follow.
