Following nearly a decade of debate and deliberation, the City of Worcester is poised to welcome a new state courthouse to its Main Street. A fully integrated courthouse for the state’s Worcester district, the new Worcester Trial Courthouse will house District Court, Housing Court, Superior Court, Juvenile Court as well as the Probate and Family Court.

The building will provide some 430,000 square feet of space on six levels, providing 26 courtrooms, courtroom support, offices, hearing rooms, public transaction areas, public lobbies and secure holding facilities.

Groundbreaking for the project took place in July, 2004, with an anticipated 36- month construction period. As designed, the new courthouse will reinforce the spatial character of the City's Main Street.
