The Worcester Cultural Coalition maintains two galleries, which host several shows every year: one located in the windows of Bay State Savings bank facing Franklin Street and the other in the basement level of Worcester City Hall just off the building's parking lot basement.
The winter show, "Fire and Ice" is now open for submissions!
Culturally and historically juxtaposition of these diametrically opposing things, the fire element with ice compound, has and can symbolizes many things: the sun and the moon; summer and winter; desire and hatred; the all too familiar scenes of the warmth of heat taking away winter's chill; and appears in songs, literature, and gods and goddesses a numerous pantheons. The exhibit will be presented in conjunction with the City of Worcester's Festival of Lights celebration.
Landscape, Fine Art, and Street Photographer and Clark University Professor Frank Armstrong; Photographer & Worcester State University Professor Catherine Wilcox-Titus; and Public Art Administrator & Art in the Park Project Manager Gloria D. Hall will serve as jurors for the show.
Worcester Windows is supported by the Worcester Cultural Coalition, the City of Worcester, Bay State Savings Bank, and Greater Worcester Community Foundation.
