Worcester Windows March-May 2006

Higgins Armory Museum will present selected reproduced works from Helen Meyrowitz: The Armor Series. Inspired by the images and stories coming out of the war in Iraq, contemporary artist Helen Meyrowitz responded with The Armor Series, a group of mixed media drawings that illustrate themes of human vulnerability and aggression through images of armor from a variety of historical periods. Each drawing presents the viewer with a dialogue between two opposing ideas - vulnerability and aggression, humor and violence, beauty and horror, life and death. With her extraordinary use of line and color, Meyrowitz reminds viewers of the violent context of armor while simultaneously celebrating the beauty of its form and its incredible craftsmanship.
