The City of Worcester Seeks Interns in the following areas:

Cultural Development Office Intern(s)

City of Worcester Cultural Development Office seeks intern(s) who will assist in City and Worcester Cultural Coalition media outreach, and special event promotions and coordination. A qualified intern should illustrate an interest in cultural economic and community development, public relations and special events coordination. Basic knowledge of graphic design tools and /or strong writing skills for press releases and promotional materials are required. Intern will assist in producing a weekly enewsletter, Culture Connections. Candidates must have an enthusiasm for public sector work, possess a good sense of humor and be a self-starter. Other duties may arise depending on individual interests and capacities. Some weekends and night time hours may be required. Knowledge of Word, Excel, Photoshop, Constant Contact and PowerPoint are useful.

Economic Development Intern

The City of Worcester Economic Development Division seeks an intern to assist staff with a number of projects, including the identification and analysis of retail and office space within Worcester and the creation of a related database/spreadsheet, the implementation of a business attraction program through identification and outreach to retail, office, and industrial users, and the creation of a new industrial park in South Worcester. Other duties may arise depending on individual interests and capacities. A qualified intern should possess strong writing skills and illustrate an interest in urban planning/studies, real estate, economics, or business. Candidates must have an enthusiasm for public sector work and be a self-starter. Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential, as well as familiarity with database programs such as Access.
